Patrice Castignolles, chercheur à l'université de Western Sydney, fera une présentation sur la : Capillary electrophoresis: a new hope in characterisation of the composition and structure of polyelectrolytes and in monitoring their chemical reactions

We propose free solution capillary electrophoresis (CE) as a method to characterise polyelectrolytes such as double hydrophilic block copolymers, poly(acrylic acid) (PAA), chitosan but also starch, poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone) or PEG. The separation by CE is not influenced by the degree of polymerisation (or size for homopolymers) and is thus in the critical conditions. We will show how distributions of compositions can be determined for copolymers.[1,2] We will also show that the CE technique is robust, especially no sample filtration is required. Reactions can thus be monitored online. We will show the examples of monitoring the binding of cisplatin to PAA, grafting of peptides or PEG on chitosan films[3, 4] or monitoring sugars in a polysaccharide digestion[5].
