Seminar by Dr Mathilde Lepoitevin / Brown University - USA

Wednesday 6th of December 2017 - 2pm - Maroni room / MHT

Dr Mathilde Lepoitevin is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the department of Physics at Brown University. She will give a talk about: Design of single solid-state nanopores for bio-macromolecules detection.

She will describe their efforts to push the limits of nanostructures and expend their function and precision. Examples will include how to modulate the ionic diodes properties in a nanopore, their use as molecular filter as well as for detection and analysis of biomolecules.
As molecule are driven through nanopores in solution, they block the ion current flow resulting in ionic current reductions from which molecule’s physical and chemical properties are inferred. DNA, proteins and other biomolecules can be analyzed in this way.
The temporal, spatial resolution and sensitivity in nanopore experiments have been improved over the last few years thanks to advanced material, device designs and their functionalization.
